Getting Around

Winter on the Granite Belt brings frost mornings, crisp clear days, and the occasional snow flurry between June and August.

During colder mornings, black ice can occasionally form on shaded sections of road — particularly around dawn and on quieter country routes. If you're driving early, take corners slowly and allow a little extra travel time.

Main roads through Stanthorpe are generally treated when needed, though smaller rural roads may not be.

And if snow is forecast, the best approach is usually the simplest one: slow down, leave a buffer, and enjoy the novelty of it all.
