The Granite Belt's cool climate isn't just good for wine. A handful of local distilleries are also producing excellent small-batch gin, whisky, and liqueurs worth seeking out between cellar doors.

• The Ginyard — artisan gin distillery with relaxed tastings, cocktails, and a strong local following
• Conrad Distillery — small-batch spirits and liqueurs crafted with Granite Belt fruit and botanicals
• Bent Road Distillery — boutique distillery producing premium spirits in a quiet bush setting

Best approached slowly — preferably with someone else driving.
