Mountain Biking & Cycling
Explore the Granite Belt
Stanthorpe has a handful of short mountain bike trails near the showgrounds and Quart Pot Creek, ideal for a casual ride or stretching the legs between cellar doors.
For more dedicated riding, the newly developed Angry Bull Trails near Tenterfield offer purpose-built mountain bike trails through granite country and bushland, around an hour south of here. Riders also head towards Killarney or the larger trail networks around Toowoomba for longer trail days.
Road cyclists are well looked after here too. Quiet country roads, long rolling climbs, granite outcrops, and vineyard-lined stretches make the Granite Belt especially beautiful riding in the cooler months.
Early mornings are best in warmer weather, and it's always worth carrying extra water — distances between stops can be longer than they first appear.
