The easiest birdwatching here happens from your own verandah at first light — kettle on, world quiet.

Regular visitors include crimson rosellas and king parrots in the flowering gums, kookaburras (you'll usually hear them first), magpies, grey shrike-thrushes, willy wagtails, and satin bowerbirds when the figs are in season.

Bird activity shifts throughout the year with flowering cycles, weather, and seasonal movement, so there's almost always something different to spot — or hear — depending on when you visit.
